The CIPD are now calling on professionals to see if it is possible to shake up the way that people work, and this could work wonders for the working environment and for employees too. The CIPD have launched a benchmark to show working life in the UK. They are calling on the people profession to try and make sure that job quality does not take a backseat in the overall quest to try and protect jobs.

The CIPD Good Work Index

The CIPD Good Work Index have revealed a very worrying decline in the overall wellbeing over the last year or two. They have also highlighted that some jobs are really undeniably better than others. This is worrying to say the least. This is not just in terms of pay or even contracts either because it is also in terms of the day to day experience.

Some differences in job quality really are inherent to the overall nature of work and even the structure of the labour market. This is going to have a huge impact on labour recruitment and even labour jobs too. Reports have found that changes in people management, or even in employment practices could easily improve job quality in a lot of cases. They have also found that two parts of the job quality, which include job design and even relationships have a huge role to play. This could make a huge difference for working lives and job performance overall.

Of course, only time will tell what the future holds but right now it looks like more needs to be done to try and make sure that everyone is given the support they need at work and that they are also able to feel confident in their abilities.

The CIPD have teamed up with some of the top researchers around to try and find out why the UK has such an issue with productivity. Jobs which require a huge amount of effort, including labour jobs are also affected. Labour recruitment agencies are also trying to find out why employers are finding it difficult to ensure that everyone has a high-quality and inclusive workplace.

Seven Universities have Teamed Up

The CIPD have teamed up with various experts from seven different universities to see if they can translate some of the cutting-edge evidence to find out how wellbeing and performance factors into the tools which are used for business. The PrOPEL hub has taken a lot of research evidence onboard to try and cut through some of the academic jargon that is happening right now, and they are also working hard to try and turn everything into a practical lesson. There are so many guides out there that are helping businesses of all different sizes to try and explore a brand-new way of working. The CIPD and the members are going to play a huge role in making sure that content is shaping well and putting everything into perspective. The insights are also going to inform CIPD resources and guidance is going to really help the new profession map too.

Of course, professor Roy who is the director over at the PrOPEL hub has stated that as the fallout of lockdown carries on, it's important that evidence is used to try and make sure that any crucial decisions are made and that over the coming weeks to make sure that people are getting the guidance they need to really feel confident in their abilities. It's going to be interesting to see what comes from this.

The CIPD have partnered up with the Enterprise Nation to try and support the BEIS organisation. The CIPD are absolutely delighted to say that they have partnered up with BEIS to try and launch a Recovery Advice for Business initiative. This is a brand-new support platform which is designed to try and give professionals access to support, including business growth advice, HR and even marketing. So many SMEs are now facing a very uncertain future after the devastating coronavirus wave. Government schemes such as the Job Retention Scheme and even the Bounce Back Loans have really given them the financial support they need, but that being said, so many people are struggling to navigate the process of people-related issues.

Recovery Advice for Business Scheme

Through the Recovery Advice for Business Scheme, it looks like CIPD members can easily ensure that SMEs are able to get the advice they need to plan and re-orientate their business. The CIPD are calling on so many members who work with independent consultants and they are trying to give any SME one hour of advice, for free, every month until the start of next year. This is going to be done through the Enterprise Nation, which is a specified online platform which so many SMEs use right now. If you work in the industry of labour recruitment or if you are currently seeking labour jobs, then you will understand what a fantastic resource this is.
All in all, movements like this are certainly going to benefit those who need it the most and it is also going to help small businesses get on their feet again. Only time will tell what is going to happen next but right now, things are looking positive.

It's time to look at all of the hard work that the CIPD are doing to try and raise the voice of those who want better working lives. The CIPD have continued to share their expertise and the insights they have with policy makers.

Promoting Good Work

At the end of the day, fair and good work is a central theme when you look at everything that the CIPD offers. On the 16th of June, it was published on a report that employers needed to try and increase their focus on job quality overall when it comes to workplace wellbeing. The report was very well publicised on a number of influential publications. There has also been some more data published across the UK and it shows that it is possible to achieve good work for everyone, but there are some concerns that some jobs are better than others. Jonny Gifford, who is the senior advisor for the organisation has stated that employers have a moral duty to try and improve the job quality overall. An analysis, which has been published by the High Pay Centre has shown that the fairness of the UK and the publicly listed companies has come under scrutiny once more. The chief executives of the FTSE 100 companies have benefited from various government support schemes even though they received higher than average pay for all of their staff members. Those who are out of work when it comes to labour jobs will also have the chance to partake in the scheme, along with those who are self-employed or working in labour recruitment.

Only time will tell what the future holds, but right now it looks like more needs to be done to try and give support to those who actively need it.
