The UK Space Agency has worked hard to try and give £18m of ESA funding to OneWeb. This is a satellite start-up agency and they plan on using hundreds of satellites to try and provide the general public with a good level of broadband connectivity. The company was founded in the US and they are now registered in the UK. They have the aim to try and employ 200 staff, and this is great for those who work in engineering recruitment and even technical recruitment.
According to the statement from the Space Agency, the investment will really see the group focus on various technology and it will also do it based on the next lot of satellite payloads as well. The ground connections and even the space debris removal are also part of this. It will support novel automation and it will also help AI to try and manage the proposed constellation of space craft. They are also going to help with the interaction of artificial intelligence. The company have announced that they are excited about this application and that they are also continually trying to learn how to use it to their advantage. The ESA funding is, in some way, part of the agency's Sunrise project. They are exploring the use of satellites for a much broader interest and they are also working hard to try and have it in integrated applications. The UK batch of satellites are going to be launched on the 26th of February and they are also going to be done from the EU spaceport.
This is very exciting news to say the least and it just goes to show how much work is being put into the industry to try and make even bigger and better things happen.
