£5 Million Being Spent to Speed up the Race to Net Zero
Homes across South Wales, that happen to be low carbon, now have cheaper energy costs and they are a step closer to net zero. A lot of this comes down to the new grant project that is happening within the country. At the end of the day, solar energy is being used to try and push things along. The new project is going to enable buildings all across South Wales to generate and store their own heat and electricity. The idea is to try and see buildings as being power stations. This is a design concept that has been pioneered by the university and it is also going to help non-domestic buildings too. At the end of the day, the principal has already been shown time and time again to work. The aim of the project is to try and speed up the rate at which innovation is being adopted. This is going to bring down costs and it is going to see them being deployed more widely. The innovation ecosystem is going to be great at building strong supply chains and it is going to make a lot of difference going forward.
The project is a consortium and it is being led by Swansea University. It is also being led by the University of South Wales. It’s being done in partnership with the Net Zero industry. The funding has been given by the UKRI Engineering Council and this has helped South Wales to become the growing hub for a number of sectors. It looks like all of this is going to play a pivotal role in the future and that it is going to help drive forward the UK’s hydrogen economy. This is going to mean great things for the future, to say the least.
