Swift Current Energy have managed to reach a supply agreement with the company known as First Solar. They are doing this for a total of 2GW of thin solar modules. The idea is that they are going to provide them between 2025 and 2026. Eric Lammers, who works in renewables for Swift Energy has said that this certainty of supply is very good and it is needed so that the company can grow their pipeline even more in the future. Of course, this is not the first time that the company have done this with First Solar. They have placed an order for 1GW of energy in the past.
Of course, if you look at the company and the statements that they have made, you will soon see that they intend to invest $1.2 billion so they can build some brand-new manufacturing facilities. It is their aim to try and make sure that they increase capacity as much as possible. They aim to do this with their existing operation. When you look at the plans, you will soon see that they call for an investment of around $1 billion in the new module factory which is going to be in the South East. Another $185 million is then going to be dedicated to adding 1GW of new energy to their manufacturing facility so the company can function in Ohio. If they are able to get approval from a regulatory standpoint then the company have said that they expect the new factory to go online in the year 2025. First Solar have said that they hope the investment is going to create well over 850 new jobs and that it is going to bring the US employment rate up significantly, which is a huge movement for the sector.
