If you work in the industry of renewables then you should know that GE has had a bit of a bumpy quarter so far. The company have onshore wind turbine revenues and they came in at $2.445 billion for the quarter. This ended on the 30th of September but if you look at the facts, you will soon see that this is down from over $3.047 billion. If you look at the company's renewable energy business, you will soon see that they have reported a quarterly loss and this is far bigger than the $151 million loss overall.
The company have said that their equipment revenue were down in the quarter and that a lot of this comes down to the fact that they have less turbines and this has affected the power business quite a lot. A lot of this comes down to the fact that there is a huge decrease in steam power equipment and the decline of new-build coal overall. If you look at the third-quarter filing, you will soon see that the company have experienced a lot of cost inflation too. The logistics and the cost materials are being taken into account and this is affecting customer demand. It has been said that this also comes down to the experience across the onshore turbine fleet as well as they are having to deploy various repairs and corrective measures to try and improve the availability of the fleet as well as the general quality of it. Of course, the major repair move has led to a lot of reserves during the main quarter which is not good to say the least. Only time will tell what happens from here but right now things are looking good for the company, especially if they are able to curb their losses quickly.
