Keel Laid For Petronas Second FLNG Unit

Malaysian national oil and gas company Petronas has reached a milestone by laying the keel of its second Floating LNG unit, the Petronas FLNG 2 (PFLNG2).

The official keel laying of the company’s second floating liquefaction unit was held in Geoje Island, South Korea on 28 October, at the Samsung Heavy Industry shipyard. The keel laying marks the formal start of the construction phase of the PFLNG2 which will weigh 134,000 tonnes.

Once completed, the vessel will be used for the liquefaction, production and offloading processing of natural gas in the Rotan field, 130 kilometers offshore Sabah, Malaysia. PFLNG2 will have a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), and is designed for deep-water is expected to be delivered in 2018.
