Olkiluoto 3 Grid Connection is Now Expected within a Matter of Days

It would seem that the commissioning tests are going very well over at Olkiluoto 3. The grid connections are now said to be taking place on the 15th of March and this is very good news to say the least. The fifth nuclear reactor has reached its first criticality last year and now it is undergoing a number of commissioning tests. It is then going to be synced before going to the grid. TVO have said that they have since tested the production using the megawatts on the grid. When you look at the company's latest forecast you will soon see that the commissioning various tests for the circuit breaker were to be done in automatic mode as well as in manual mode. This is helping to culminate the testing in various auto modes, up to 2 hours in length. This is going to be done at 110MW which is very interesting for those who work in renewables. The plant is also going to be synced to the grid. The start of production is going to be on the 15th of March and more tests are going to be done as well. This is going to boost things up to 60% which is really good to say the least. It would seem that regular production is then going to begin on the 31st of July. TVO have since announced that there is going to be a connection with the 1600 MWE EPR. This was first expected at the end of the month but now it looks like things are going to be delayed due to the unplanned trip during the tests.

Who knows what the future holds but either way it would seem that more needs to be done to ensure that everything and everyone is safe.
