The Seaborg Power Barge is now being 'considered for use. It would seem that the Pertamina NRE company have signed a memorandum of understanding which is helping them to investigate the deployment of their CMSR Power Barge. This is being done in Indonesia. There are now images out there that show how their power barges could look. Pertamina NRE are a subsidiary of the company and they have released a statement saying that they are currently using the assessment scope to find out where they stand with the initial project. They are also exploring the idea of deployment and to find out if the whole thing is going to be commercially viable or not. This is being followed by a number of potential projects. Of course, the utilisation of the energy could mean that the power supply is being sent to the grid. This could be directly to the industry or it could even be to the production of alternative fuels. This could include methanol, ammonia or even hydrogen.
Of course, when you look at the results from the study, you will soon notice that further collaboration, such as the deployment of a CMSR Power Barge could well have a capacity of over 200Mwe. Even though some of the economics have yet to be finalised, it looks like an investment of around 3 billion is going to be more than enough to make sure that everything comes together nicely.
Of course, only time will tell what the future holds but right now it seems that a lot is being done to try and support the energy sector. If you want to keep up with this story then make sure that you take note of the latest advancements and that you also invest in green energy yourself.
