Wood Group Wins More Woodside FLNG Work (Australia)

Wood Group, an international oilfield services provider, has secured its second front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the proposed Browse floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) development offshore Western Australia.

Under the new contract with Woodside, effective immediately, Wood Group Kenny (WGK) will progress the configuration design of the flexible risers and umbilicals for the asset’s offshore gas-condensate fields – Brecknock, Calliance and Torosa.

Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood Group Kenny, said: “This second contract win further builds on Wood Group’s 30-year relationship with Woodside and our role in providing technical and engineering support for the Browse FLNG Development. The project presents deepwater challenges, which Wood Group Kenny is well positioned to tackle.

“Our Perth-based workforce will assist with development of the configuration design of the flexible risers and umbilicals, following previous Browse FLNG riser conceptual studies carried out by Wood Group Kenny. This project also builds on our extensive riser expertise, including participation in the early designs for several other FLNG projects.”

Wood Group started contract earlier this year for the subsea flowline FEED with Woodside for the development, located 300 km from the Kimberly coast. The main focus of the first FEED is to develop the engineering and design of the rigid flowline system to assist the Browse joint venture participants to take a final investment decision (FID), which Woodside is targeting in the second half of 2016.

The Browse FLNG Development concept is based on three FLNG facilities utilising Shell’s FLNG technology and Woodside’s offshore development expertise to commercialise the Brecknock. Calliance and Torosa fields containing gross contingent resources (2C) of 15.4 trillion cubic feet of dry gas and 453 million barrels of condensate).
